Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

My father Georges died last year following a massive stroke and in trying to understand better what had happened to him, I was to learn some startling facts.  Most of us know or are aware of someone who has had a stroke, often with severe consequences for the sufferer.  Stroke is the number 3 killer in the UK, after heart disease and cancer.  Currently, 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women will suffer a stroke in their lifetime.  And it is not just something that affects the older person, with children and infants also suffering strokes.  The Stroke Association supports those who have suffered strokes AND their families.  It also researches and educates on ways to reduce the risk of stroke.  More people are disabled because of stroke than by any other cause so my wife and I want to support the Stroke Association in its work.

On the 14th July we will leave John O’Groats heading to Lands End on the classic endurance route, with the aim of raising as much money as possible to help the Stroke Association continue its work.  The journey will be made over several days avoiding motorways, on my father’s vintage 1959 Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle with my wife Mandy, riding with me on her 32 year old classic Honda.  Motorcycles were a passion of my father which was passed onto my wife and I, and this seems a poignant thing to do in his memory.  Please support us in our endeavour and support the Stroke Association through “Georges Memorial Ride”.

Please help us raise as much money as possible for the The Stroke Association.

Thank You

Alain
