Bupa Great North Run 2012 · 16 September 2012 ·

The Steve Prescott Foundation was set up by a totally inspirational man Steve Prescott MBE. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a terminal cancer & sought out to raise funds for The Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. The SPF changes the lives of so many people.

Story

Hello there, I'll keep this bit as short as poss.

I'm gonna battle around the unforgiving Great North Run course again in a few weeks. It'll be my 4th in a row and definitely the toughest. The irony of the London 2012 "Inspire a Generation" motto being that having spent every hour working there I've not had the trainers on much.

I'll definitely get round, no matter how slow, needing no more inspiration to do so than the man whose Foundation I'm hoping to raise a few pounds for.

Steve Prescott went to the doctor with stomach pains in 2006 and came home having been told he'd not see his young children grow up. Given months to live six years ago, his mental strength and physical and fundraising efforts in the face of unthinkable adversity since, have been superhuman.
