Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

In August I am taking part in the London triathlon Super Sprint (400m Swim /10km Bike /2.5km Run)  www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk to raise money for my mum's cousin Vicky Poynder.

After going into remission from breast cancer a few years ago, Vicky now has aggressive cancer in her remaining lymph glands, back and kidneys. For the last 6 months, she has been doing an amazing job balancing chemo, aggressive treatments and two young kids, all whilst keeping her positive approach to life. I asked her to pick the charity and she chose this one as she believes complementary care helps and should be more widely available. To quote her: "If only there existed something like this on the NHS!"

For more information about the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre please visit their website: www.pennybrohncancercare.org As the UK's leading charity in complementary cancer care, the vision of Penny Brohn Cancer Care is to enable world-wide access to complementary care and support through the Bristol Approach.

As we doing so well I thought I should encourage you to go the extra mile by showing what your hard earned cash will pay for:
• £30 pays for free information and help-packs for 20 newly-diagnosed people with cancer
• £100 pays for 100 people to speak to one of the trained helpline volunteers for support and advice in their time of need
• £500 pays for 20 people with cancer to come to the centre for a 'Cancerpoint' counselling session
• £1,200 pays for 20 specialist cancer nurses to attend a training day at the centre to learn how to help the patients in their own care with emotional support and complementary therapies
• £1,620 pays for 3 people with cancer, or their supporter, to attend a 2-day residential course at the centre
• £2,700 pays for 3 people with cancer, or their supporters, to attend a 5-day residential course at the centre

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure, so please sponsor me now! If you would prefer to donate via cheque I have a form I can email you with all the details, just let me know.

Many thanks for your support and I hope Vicky will be there on the day. Let me know if you too can come and I'll get you a Penny Brohn Tshirt or balloon!
