I can confirm to you all that I managed to get to Paris in one piece and absolutely loved it. Sunny days, no rain, no traffic lights, no bendy buses, big hills to go up but top speed going down the other side! More photos coming soon.....
As some of you may know, I did the London to Brighton Bike Ride last year for which some of you most generously sponsored me. I was thinking of doing the same again this year but thought it a little unfair to ask you for fundraising support for something i've done before. So this year I am going to try a little harder. 242 miles harder to be precise! I will be cycling to Paris over 3.5 days starting in South London on 9th September and completing 95 miles on the first day to Calais and pushing through northern France the next few days to the finishing line under the Eiffel Tower on the 12th September.
The charity I am fundraising for is Broadway which is a London based homeless organisation. I felt it was important to put the spotlight on a charity which is making highly valuable contributions to our society that doesn't currently benefit from the limelight experienced by some larger national charities who we are all more familiar with.
Broadway is not about soup and blankets for a night but focused on getting to the root of the problem to help prevent people at risk of homelessness and providing services to help those currently homeless in finding housing, reintegrating back into society, and gaining full independence. Due to the recent shift in the UKs economic state and the continuing housing crisis in London, they are in more need than ever for funds.
I appreciate that many of you have also been effected by the credit crunchy nut so donations big or small are all welcome, it all adds up....
