Story
I did it ... the hard way.
100 miles in the p**sing rain and wind.
‘I rode all day’
Could have been tougher I guess... could of had a puncture, could of had a spill (almost lost control on a couple of turns).
Saw many accidents, some quit serious, and one poor chap in cardiac arrest, receiving medical attention.
Felt compelled to stop on a couple of occasions where people crashed down in front, or to the side of me ... they were a bit shook up, bumped and scraped, but okay.
Had to concentrate hard, especially in the latter stages ...with tiredness and fatigue setting in, riders were starting to drift ... it was carnage.
But .... ‘the gods were smiling upon me’
And so, bob and weave and duck and dive I did, all the way to the palace and the finishing line.
Very proud, not only to have picked up my ‘Ride 100 Medal’ but also my ‘London Classics Medal’.🏅🏅
‘I would just like to thank everyone one in the room ... 💁♂️ ‘
But seriously, I would like to thank all at ‘Peckham Cycle Club’ for their generosity of spirit , their help, and their advice. Especially Ben, with whom I did a couple of (for me) important training/fueling sessions. Those sessions took me from ‘all the gear and no idea’ to ‘might just get away with it’.
Cheers Ben/PCC 👍
If you appreciate my effort in the wind and rain of yesterday. Please donate something, anything, to the charity I rode for ... ‘Cambridge House’
