Story
A suggestion from my son, Chris, was the inspiration for me to start training for the Great North Run to raise funds for CAFOD. He and Louise had decided to do the GNR and his simple question, "Why don't you do it, Dad?" was enough to make me decide that it was better to do it sooner rather than later!
CAFOD is an organisation which supports some of the most deprived people in the world - and a real example of the Catholic Church working for the benefit of people throughout the world, here and now.
I'm hoping that students and staff at St Cuthbert's, parishioners at St Robert's and friends and family will generously support my efforts. I have to say that I've already benefited from the training regime, feeling fitter and healthier than before. But that's not the point of this: I want to help make a difference to people most in need of our support by taking part in this run.
So please do what you can to help out. Lots of people who won't be able to thank you directly will benefit from your kindness and generosity.
As I'm sure you know, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. However, if you'd prefer to sponsor me with cash or a cheque, please just let me know and I'll be happy to arrange.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
Gerard
