On September 14th this year,I will attempt to swim from Ilfracombe to the tower in Swansea bay. This will be a total of 25nautical miles(nm) across the Bristol Channel, reputed to have the second largest tidal variation in the world. The English Channel, reputed to be the "Everest"of swimming is a mere 19nm,6 nm less.Due to the pull of the tides, I will actually cover considerably more than 25nm.So, a long day with the jellies is expected.
Through my membership of Team Deviant triathlon club,I came to know Big Dave and his family.Tragically on the 29th October 2007,Dave's much loved nephew Liam died of a brain haemorhage.
Liam was just 15years old.Even though this was a devastating loss. Mike and Sue, (Liam's parents) made the decision to donate Liam's organs in order to try to help other families. The money raised on this site will go to the donor family network, who were of great support to Mike and Sue at this time. All other monies collected by Mike and Sue will be donated to the ICU unit in Morriston Hospital. I hope that all who read this will decide to donate to these worthy causes.
