Get Together for MeCP2

Get Together for Blake · 13 January 2015
There are a small amount of boys (and even less girls) across the world who suffer from a cruel and debilitating genetic condition called MeCP2 Duplication Syndrome. It is life limiting, severe and will ultimately kill sufferers. In recent weeks, 3 beautiful boys, 2 of whom were babies, have died as a result of being born with this condition.
This has spurred on parents and others who care for children with this condition to join forces and help fund research. There is an extremely exciting trial which is currently underway, but needs a huge boost of funds to continue.
I, Jenny McMillan, Mum to Blake, have enlisted the help of friends, acquaintances and strangers to take on an individual challenge to help raise funds. We have called it "Get Together for Blake" but really it is for all the boys and girls who are affected. Our aim is to create a "snowball effect" and those attending events will also commit to hosting an event of their own. This has huge potential. Every event, big or small, will all add up and we will reach our target before long.
Other families will be doing the same for their children.....Josh, Ellis, Jed and hopefully some others.
The proceeds of each event will go into this Reverse Rett Just Giving page which will be channeled directly to the MeCP2 Duplication Fund RSRT.
Thank you all for taking part in this challenge.
Much love from all of us determined, hopeful families!
