Story
On the 7th July 2012, Little Brown Book Group’s CEO Ursula Mackenzie will face her fear, hold her nose and take the Catteshall Plunge!
In aid of the CHASE, the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, Ursula will strip down to her bathing costume and bravely attempt to swim across the lake at Catteshall Manor in Surrey. But this is no ordinary lake. It’s big, it’s dirty, it’s murky, and it contains all kind of delights to keep Ursula company on her swim including algae and other friendly (and not-so-friendly) marine life.
Ursula’s swim takes place as part of the annual Catteshall Stroll, in memory of Peter Bowron – a brilliant book publisher who died tragically young in 2009 aged 40. This year’s stroll is re-named the Catteshall Games and is Olympics-themed, featuring all kinds of activities in addition to the traditional walk and cycle ride.
The Catteshall Plunge will be one of the highlights of the day, and Ursula is going to need all the encouragement she can get. Please be generous and show your support by sponsoring her. All the money raised will go to CHASE children’s hospice, which provides essential care for seriously ill children like Peter Bowron’s own daughter Anna.
So, join everyone at Little, Brown Book Group, our colleagues from the Book People and our friends from across the publishing industry and beyond, as we say..."Get Your Kit Off Ursula!"
