My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On Saturday 13 September I rode in aid of St Mary's Church, Kennington, Kent,  where I ring, together with Joel Wilson, a bell ringer and son of the vicar at Great Chart. We visited 55 churches on the day in the Ashford, Folkestone & Hythe area, starting at Great Chart at 10:00 and finishing at Willesborough Baptist Church at 17:52. We rode a total distance of 67.5 miles or 108.5 km. A complete list of churches visited and the times we were there can be found at the bottom of this page. Mostly it went to plan though a couple of churches were taken out of order (as we failed to find the church on the first pass). Another rider joined us for most of the day, but we lost him between Hythe and Lympne and, in consequence, lost quite a lot of time at this point looking for him. This resulted in a mad dash in the last 1½ hours to try and catch up and complete all the planned churches

In my opinion, notwithstanding that it is my home church, Kennington had the best refreshments of the churches we visited. Unfortunately, it was a bit early when we passed to take advantage of this.

I have some photographs and will post them on my website in due course.

If you have visited this site because I sent you a link in an eMail, do not want to donate "electronically" but would still like to support me, I will have a yellow  sponsorship form with me for the next couple of weeks or just eMail me back with your pledge if you do not expect to see me.

You can see the route in Google Earth if you go to this web page and follow the link http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gfcoker/Church%20Bike%20Ride%202008.htm

Joel also has a JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/joelwilson

If you pay tax please tick the Gift Aid box so that your donation is increased by the government by 28%. If you are lucky enough (!!) to pay higher rate taxes remember that all your charitable giving (not just donations here) can be offset against your income and is worth about 11% to you - so keep a track of it and claim it in your tax return..

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Friends Of Kent Churches gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! And thank you to all those who have already been so generous
