Story

In May 2022 I will join a team of British adventurers, led by experienced adventurer Neil Laughton, to travel to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon where we will immerse ourselves in the culture and wildlife of the Amazon jungle.

We will be the first to explore the “black waters” of this part of the upper Amazon River using paddle boards.  We will paddle the Yanayaca river from Dorado Lake to Nauta at the confluence of the Ucayali and Maranon rivers (where the Amazon starts), a journey of 256 km's in 8 days.

We will also have the chance to photograph Pink Dolphins, go Piranha fishing, hunt for Tarantula spiders at night, stay at indigenous villages, camp in the jungle and observe the spectacular wildlife.

Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care and community support for children and young people with life-shortening conditions. Your help enables families to spend time together. Precious moments that give a lifetime of memories.

About the charity

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, caring for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age every year, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.
