UPDATE: Now completed the run and was a very proud Mama when my 6 year old daughter wanted to run with me. We completed the 5k course in 45 minutes and that included me giving my daughter a cuddy back for 2km! As one of the stewards commented whilst my daughter was on my back "you should have stuck some wings on either side of you and gone as an aeroplane!"

It started as a mid life crisis, and a "oh my gosh I need to tone up and get fit", therefore I needed a goal, so I signed up for the Edinburgh 5K Big Fun Run. My reason for choosing the "fun run" was that if I don't make the fitness grade at least I can walk parts of the course! (anyone that know's me, a cunning contingency plan!).
My next "brilliant" idea to ensure I DO take part was to run for charity, but which one? so many worthy causes and naturally, ones that I and my family have been personally affected by. Then by chance, Simon (my husband) was asked to become a Trustee of the charity Avaition without Borders (AWB) (see http://www.aviationwithoutborders.org/). AWD is an amazing young charity that is dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance through aviation services irrespective of politics, religion, race or nationality. It is based on the French aviation charity Aviation Sans Frontieres. AWB main acitivites are air cargo shipments of medical and humanitarian aid, discovery fun days in UK for disadvantaged children, escorting sick children to and from UK for treatment and aircraft humanitarian missions.
