Hello everyone that knows me, those who don't my name is Gina Bayliss and i am on the road to achieving my lifetime ambition of running the Virgin London Marathon on 25 April 2010 with my good friend Kelly Chiswick.
I am running on behalf of the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation which is based in the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
For the past 7 months this hospital is where my friend Kelly has spent most of her time.
Kelly has successfully lost 7 stone in weight since 2007 and had to undergo weight loss surgery, unfortunately her last operation didn't go well and she has suffered from being seriously ill in a high depenecy unit with septicemia and has had to undergo 7 more operations, fortunately she now seems to be on the mend. It was whilst me and Kelly was at the hospital that we met several burns patients that had had successfull surgery thanks to the research of the foundation.
The Blond McIndoe Research Foundation is an independent medical research center specialising in innovative research into skin wound repair for over 40 years with a particular emphasis on the treatment of burns patients especially childrens scalds, hopefully reducing the degree of scaring and will reduce the number of those who die as a result of their injuries.
The foundation relies entirlely of charitable giving to continue its life changing work as it receives no help from the government or the NHS. The charity is known internationaly for its work and aims to expand both its operations and its reputation. There is much more work to be done but this cannot happen without sufficient funds so please please dig deep to support me and Kelly to raise as much money as we can for this well worthy charity.
