Story
It's been a busy year, a very busy year!!!! The plan was to complete 12 events in 12 months and I’ve beaten my target, I’ve completed 14 events and it’s not even December yet.
There’s a list of all the events and my finishing times below. In total I have swum 1100m, cycled 274Km and run 116Km - and that's without all the training!
Southend Wheelers 100k Ride 10th Feb - Completed in 4hr 30mins. Hard work but lovely weather!
Ashford & District 10k 17th Feb - Completed in 1hr 4 mins. It was a hilly but enjoyable run.
Knole Park 10k 16th Mar - Finished in 1hr 5 mins. Off road so it was very muddy and slippery. With the cold wind and rain not the most pleasant conditions but it was still fun in the end.
Leamington Regency 10k 6th April - Finished in 1hr 5 mins. It was snowing!!!!! Lovely run around Leamington Spa.
Bluebell 5 (5 mile off road run) 11th May - Finished in 56:03. Very hot but really lovely course.
Polka Dot Challenge (70 mile ride around Peak District - my most challenging event of the year) - 1st June - Finished in 6:28, weather awful - pouring rain - felt great to finish it, very pleased I did it.
Ongar Try-a-Tri - 22nd June - Finished in 1:19:15, 5 and 1/2 mins faster than last year. Good fun.
Grays Triathlon - 29th June - Finished in 1:28:15 which I'm pleased with. Good event, will be back next year for this one.
Blackwater Triathlon - 14th Sept - Finished in 1:40:53 which is two mins off last year. Great event.
Southend 10k - 5th Oct - 1:04:17 - Despite very little training and awful conditions I still beat last year's time.
Tiptree 10 mile - 12th Oct – 1:47:33 - My first ten mile run, I wasn’t even sure I’d finish but I got around and really enjoyed it.
Billericay 10k - 2nd Nov – 1:03:43 - This is a lovely run and I was really pleased to take a few seconds off last years time.
Stebbing 10 mile – 9th Nov – 1:46:25 – Encouraged by the Tiptree run I entered this one, beautiful course although very undulating, pleased with the time.
Chelmsford 10k – 16th Nov – 1:02:09 – Knowing this was the last one of the year I went for it and was really pleased to finish the year’s events with a personal best time!
So, for all those who’ve been following my progress and promising to make a donation now is the time to do it! I know it’s not a good time for many people financially but even a couple of pounds will help towards my fundraising target of £500.
My chosen charity is Haven Hospices, follow the link to read all about all the good work they do.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Havens Hospices will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I've set up this blog to keep track of the events, please take a look (if only to have a laugh at the photos)... http://www.realbuzz.com/en-gb/blogs/index?pageID=1997&blog=9328
