My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you may know I will be running the Virgin London Marathon in 2012 a second time around! I ran my first one in April 2011 and completed the course in an incredible 5 hours and 17 minutes! Not defeated by the challenge, I thought to give it a try again in 2012, however, this time ensure I get around faster and as part of my resolution for the year - "be the best I can be" (& not just out on the field...watch this space!)
I have been lucky enough to secure a charity place for this years Marathon with "Able Child Africa"; something that is close to home for me. Having been born and brought up in East Africa, Kenya, it felt right to be able to do something which will make a difference in any way possible to the very place I associate with as my formative home!!
Able Child Africa is a small NGO, spread across East Africa. The team there work to assist young people, disabled and disadvantaged children to achieve their full potential through spear heading early development centres, and setting up parental support groups with the aim to educate and empower these children and their families on basic life skills (something we take for granted in this day and age) plus fostering a postive attitude and a sense of freedom to be yourself and live an equal and happy life within the community. As for marathon training, it is going well and am on track with my plan so far, not to mention eating lots to sustain the energy levels...keep hearing out for updates from me!
I would like to request you to help me in helping to make a difference in someones life! A little goes a long way, so please dig deep. Your support and kind words go a long way, and make that 26.2 mile marathon that extra bit worthwhile! :)
