I said to Rachel [ my partner who is professional charity fund raising manager] I have a plan to maximise potential giving.... Build a ground swell of excitement through a last minute 4 day campaign - "Rubbish" was her response so you all have to help me prove her wrong.

I don't need to sell the charity but I may need to push my fitness levels [ low] and the added challenge of completing the event with relatively new shoes, tooth ache and a sore toe.

I've been lucky enough to spend some time with Macmillan Policy team over the past 4 months as part of a wider corporate initiative and it comes over so clearly the desire for everyone to really feel that they're making a difference to people's lives.....

So in summary you have three reasons to give...

1. [ and most importantly] Macmillan is a fantastic charity

2. You'll help me break my 'told you so' duck with Rachel

3. Something's bound to go wrong and everyone likes a good story
