Brain Tumour UK has merged with The Brain Tumour Charity to become the UK's largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund research and offer support and information to those affected whilst raising awareness and influencing policy.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Last year I managed to get round the Blenheim Triathlon in about 1 hour 35 min. The Blenheim Triathlon consists of an 800m open water swim in the lake, followed by a 20k bike ride and finishing with a 5k run and if you have a look at the video you can see what state I was in when I came to finish. This year I'm planning on doing twice the distance in the steelman triathlon, that's right... a 1 mile swim followed by a 40k bike ride and finishing with a 10k run, what fun!! It's held at Eton in the middle of July and I want to raise as much as I can for Brain Tumour UK, a charity that has personal attachment to Cath and me so please dig deep.

On the way to this triathlon I will be competing in a shorter Eton version in May and the Blenheim Triathlon again in June and I'll try to keep you up to date with how I've been doing along the way, you're welcome to donate for each one if you like!

If you would like to donate, DONATE NOW! You can do that through this website simply and securely. It will mean that Brain Tumour UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax can be added to your gift at no cost to you through gift aid. If you would like to donate directly we can claim gift aid too so please get in contact. In case you don't know it, my email address is glennh@hoots.net.

Many thanks for your support.

Update...

With just 1 week to go before the big event, I thought I'd give a quick update. The Eton Sprint went very well, exceeding all my personal goals coming up with the following times:

400m Swim : 00:06:46,    Transition 1 : 00:01:53,    20K Cycle : 00:39:56,     Transition 2 : 00:01:28,    5k Run : 00:28:33.

Total: 01:18:37

Well chuffed as they say.

On a very hot day, the Blenheim triathlon didn't go so well but I still managed to put in a  fairly decent time considering the conditions:

750m Swim : 00:14:32,    Transition 1 : 00:04:22,    20K Cycle : 00:42:07,     Transition 2 : 00:01:50,    5k Run : 00:33:43.

Total: 01:36:32

I was a bit knackered on the run.

If you'd like to come and support 'The Big Day' I could use all the help I can get! I'll be setting off on the 13th July at 10.25 in Eton's Dorney lake. Hope to see you there.

Finally...

I can get back to great dining and some fine wine! For those of you who are still interested, the weather was hot but I still managed to put in a respectable time, although maybe not quite as good as James Cracknell who won it in 01:59:30. My times were:

1500m Swim : 00:25:22,    Transition 1 : 00:01:56,    40K Cycle : 01:18:45,     Transition 2 : 00:02:16,    10k Run : 00:58:43.
