In the 40 years since Meningitis Now was founded, we have funded research, provided support & worked to raise the public's awareness of the disease. Our vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis & everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Story

On the 10 July 2008 John Mollison, Porky Waterson, Rick Gannon, Dave (Jammy) Hartley, Dave and Pete Rowlands will embark on Commando Joe's third challenge.  Having already skied to the Magnetic North Pole and rowed the North Atlantic Ocean, the Sandbaggers 7 day, 150 mile Gobi Desert Challenge should be a walk in the park.  Except that the team will be carrying all their own equipment with the exception of water to survive.

Whilst seen as a sprint compared to the last two challenges, the mental and physical thoughness required to complete this event is unique.  To date only 29 people have ever finsihed the race. The team are also dedicating their efforts to Gareth Rowlands, Pete's 16 year old son who tragically died of meningitis without showing any signs or symptoms whilst at boarding school in Derbyshire.  Your donation will alllow the Meningitis Trust to continue to offer their free services to those families affected by the disease.

Please dig deep and sponsor the team online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor Commando Joe and more importantly the Meningitis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
