My story

On Sunday 11th October 2009, Jo and Stewart will be running the Birmingham half-marathon - Stewart's second (this year !) and Jo's first (ever!). Yes - 13 miles, without the aid of car, bus, bike, horse or anything other form of additional power...and on a Sunday ! As they run, they'll be remembering that this is the weekend before Julian Bowman's 40th birthday.

Julian attracted a circle of friends, unique in the respect than many of them stretched back to childhood. He was one of the first friends made by both Stewart and Jo's long-term partner (Nic) at primary school and it was via these constant, long-term friendships that Jo became lucky enough to call Jules a friend too.

Having defeated a brain tumour as a baby and managed epilepsy admirably since his teens, Julian was prematurely taken from his family and friends in 2005. Epilepsy is a condition that also touches Jo's family - all of which is plenty reason enough why Jo & Stewart would like to use this challenge as an opportunity to raise as much money as possible for The National Society for Epilepsy.

The National Society for Epilepsy is the leading national epilepsy medical charity, working for anyone affected by epilepsy. Donations are used for cutting edge research, awareness campaigns and expert care. For more information please visit www.epilepsysociety.org.uk

The marathon route can be found at www.birminghamhalfmarathon.com - it would be fantastic to see some familiar (if somewhat blurry) faces along the way - just look out for our matching lycra gear...

Thank you very much for considering this worthwhile cause and for anything you would like to donate, especially so in these 'economically challenging' times...when all you've got is a fiver!

Thankyou
