My mid life crisis continues and here I am again entering into another foolish episode designed to reassure me that I have some tenuous link to my youth. Surely there must be an easier way...? Grecian 2000, a sports car, a pony tail, goatee beard, leather trousers? All have seemed attractive alternatives during the last few months. Any other suggestions will be very welcome.
Training has been long and at times painful and has involved lycra and vaseline. However running in the hills on a cool (but not cold), windfree day under a blue sky does wonders for the soul. I have been accompanied by various aimable companions on my training runs and Fraser.
I have decided to raise money for the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre: BASIC.
BASIC is a small UK wide charity which supports patients who are recovering from traumatic brain injuries and neurological conditions such as brain haemorrhage, brain tumour, stroke, head or spinal injury, MS, and brain cancer. BASIC centres provide specialist exercise equipment and associated support that help patients improve damaged brain functions. It can make dramatic improvements to patients' physical and mental capabilities enabling them to live more independently. The centres really change patients' lives and provide a beacon of hope.
I can assure you that I am not planning any other fund raising escapades any time soon so please do not feel the need to hold back with your pledges of cash.
Many thanks for your support, donations and good wishes,
Joe
Here's some reassuring words about just giving:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
