Story
I made it round in a time of 5hrs and 48mins!
The hot weather made it very hard going, along with cramp which set in at 15miles! The crowd were extremely supportive and the medical volunteers posted along the course were extremely helpful to keep the cramps at bay.
The experts suggested the heat added roughly 30% to each runners overall time!
I was extremely chuffed that I beat Peter and Jordan who I saw off at the 5mile mark. And extremely happy to get to the finish infront of woody the tree. The guys in costume were so amazing. The heat for them must of been unbearable!
It also took me about 6miles to twig that there was more than one 'Rhino' running the race. I must of run past 5 or 6 of them and thinking I cannot believe it keeps sneaking infront of me!
Now I know what to expect I am going to try and get into the 2010 marathon to set a better time and continue to raise money for the RNLI in Bjorn's memory. I will be looking to recruit so watch out!...it could be you. It would be great if we could get a team together to raise some serious money
I would say one of the hardest, but by far the most rewarding experience for me so far. I would definately recommend giving it a go!
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far. We are ever so close to reaching the target figure. There are a couple of months left before my webpage closes and I have to total up the final figure. To all who have helped me so far again thank you and please spread the word to those who might not of found out prior to race day. Its not to late to donate.
Many Thanks!
Mark
