Hello,
Growing up my German grandmother was an integral part of my life and upbringing it would not have been the same without her and she is sorely missed.
I feel passionatly about the care of our elderly both physically and emotionally and feel in these modern times the value of our elder members in society is being forgotten and is something that really needs to be worked on to amend.
That's why I decided to take part and join my colleagues in the Charity Challenge that my company has organised - 9 Lakes in 9 Hours - to raise money for Friends of the Elderly.
9 Lakes in 9 Hours will take place in the Lake District. The objective of this challenge is to complete 9 lakes in 9 hours using mountain bikes to get to Helvellyn, trekking to get over it and canoes to go around Ullswater on the other side. The 9 lakes I will be passing during the event are Windermere, Loughrigg Tarn, Elterwater, Rydal Water, Grasmere, Thirlmere, Red Tarn, Ullswater and Brother's Water.
Friends of the Elderly support older people, particularly those in need due to frailty, isolation or lack of adequate resources.
Their vision is that all people should retain their independence and dignity, choice and peace of mind in old age. And they achieve this by providing high quality caring services, personalised to the needs of the individual, integrated with local communities and dedicated to promoting the independence, well-being, dignity and peace of mind of each person with whom they work.
I will have to raise a minimum of £600.00 and am thankfull for any donation you can spare.
The below shows you what your donation amount can help Friends of the Elderly do.
£10. Provides a nutritious meal for 5 people
