Marathon Des Sables · 6 April 2012

Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All our care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend. It's because you care that we can.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Marathon Des Sables in April 2012 on behalf of Severn Hospice. This organisation cares for people who are living with complex and progressive illness. They are an independent charity and a huge two-thirds of their revenue comes from public fundraising, incredible considering the vitally important work they do.
In recent times my family has had the misfortune of requiring the help of the brilliant people at Severn Hospice on two separate occasions. It is because of this I am attempting to raise money for them; so they are able to help others in the future as they have helped my family before. I have been raising awareness and funds for Severn Hospice by completing the following runs:
London to Brighton – 56 miles, Sep 11
The Druid Challenge, Ridgeway Ultra – 82 miles, Nov 11
The Pilgrim Challenge, North Downs ultra – 66 miles, Feb 12
My final Ultra-marathon in this series is the Marathon Des Sables, 151 miles across the Sahara Desert in April 2012.
Severn Hospice relies on public fundraising to continue their excellent work. In these austere times donating is all the more difficult, but equally all the more important. I hope you find you are able to sponsor me and support this worthwhile cause.
Thank you.
