gordons penny a lock apeal runs alongside his paddle 4 life, both inspired by, and on behalf of joeway.co.uk.

Local man faces 260 mile's and 150 locks solo challenge in aid of Anthony Nolan and Children's  Hospice South West, Precious Lives Appeal.

Gordon Taylor, who lives near Cheadle in Staffordshire, decided to represent Anthony Nolan because having been a bone marrow donor with them in the past, he knows how much they need the support.

In August 2009, myself and  Kevin Barlow completed a canoe trip of 200 miles and 84 locks in 8 days in a home built canoe named "Chazellie" after my two daughters, raising £1810.

After a break of 12 months i came across the website joeway.co.uk, if you visit this site you just can't help being inspired by the story of Joe Way and how far his parents have gone to inspire other people to raise funds for any charity.

It was because of this that that i decided to look at doing another event,i built a two man canoe for the last event, and have built my own solo canoe a 13 foot raven called "Kayla Grace" after my first granchild,

ithink i have set a real challenge this time. I will be setting off on foot from my village so i will need to to pull my canoe (on a set of wheels i built) and two weeks of supplies approximately 1 mile to the canal at Froghall, then paddle 130 miles and 75 locks to  Cropredy Folk Festival, where i will have 3 days to recover before my return journey, totalling 260 miles and 150 locks.

As i am  doing the event on behalth of Joe Way i decided to raise money for there chosen charity  Childrens Hospice South West, through my penny a lock apeal and this page, to date i have £500 pledged for this.

This event is run at zero cost, as all equipment and sign writing needed to complete it will be met by me, so100% of all money raised goes either Anthony Nolan or The Precious Lives Appeal.

I invite everyone to take the time to check out www.joeway.co.uk and to read

thanks Gordon
