Story

Hi, as most of you probably know, we are Jess and Grace. We really appreciate that you have taken the time to read our Justgiving page, and we hope this answers any questions you may have.

As some of you may know, Jess went with her family to Kenya for three weeks last summer and spent some time in the Open Arms village, working with the children and staff of Open Arms International, we have added some pictures from her trip - feel free to check them out. This summer, Jess and Grace are going back to Eldoret to volunteer, giving the children involved the care that they desperately need. We will be providing assistance and support within medical clinics, the village school and the feeding programme.

Open Arms International is a humanitarian organisation whose basic aim is to help children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS or other tragedies in Kenya.

An Open Arms village has been set up in Eldoret which is one of the poorest areas in Kenya. This village supports over 50 abandoned, orphaned or at risk children, many of the children have HIV/AIDS or have been neglected or abused. The Open Arms village is a safe haven for these children and provides necessities such as medical care, schooling and a loving home!

As well as providing orphans with a devoted family and loving environment, Open Arms International runs a feeding programme in the slums four times a week which literally saves lives by providing medical care, education and a nutritious meal to malnourished children living in extreme poverty. Open Arms also helps to reunite street kids with their families wherever possible.

We know this is a heck of a lot of money to raise, and we won’t be relying solely on donations as we will be doing a lot of fundraising as well! However, we really do need all the help we can get, so please donate even if you feel like it isn’t a lot - money goes a long way in Kenya!

£1.00 provides 3 months deworming tablets for a child!

£5.00 buys a life saving mosquito net!

£28 gives a child in the feeding programme education for 1 month!

£50 pays for school uniform, shoes and equipment for 1 child!

Thank you in advance for any donation at all, we genuinely do appreciate it.

[Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
