We support people affected by cancer to cope with their changing life

Story

Shockingly, I was diagnosed with a rather agressive prostate cancer towards the end of November 2008 and underwent a proceedure known as Robotic Assistited Radical Prostectomy in early January 2009. The surgery took place at the London Clinic and was performed by one of the world's leading prostate surgeons, Professor Roger Kirby and his outstanding surgical and support team including Dr Peter Amoroso. Prof Kirby is the founder of the Prostate Centre in Wimpole St,W1. I was fortunate to be recommended to Prof Kirby by a very supportive urologist based at the Kings Oak Hospital; Guy Webster.

The surgery took approx 3.5 hours and was a complete success. I was home after 5 days and back at work after 6 weeks. I am so grateful for the love and support of my family, work colleagues, BNI members, business clients and friends;especially Kevin P, Steve D, Kate, Karen, The Tongs and David E. Julie deserves a special mention; I have no idea how I would have coped without her love and understanding. She has been a passenger in my living nightmare!

I am very appreciative of the support provided to be by the Nightingale Hospice of Enfield, North London. They support those affected by breast & prostate cancer by providing counselling, reike and a support network to cancer patient & their families in and around the Enfield area.

Prostate Cancer is the number one male cancer; 35,000 men are diagnosed with it every year and 11,000 die of it annually. The charity Prostate UK exists to raise money to increase awareness of this terrible but treatable affliction and to help train more specialists to use the latest techniques to combat it. It has trained 1,100 GPs and Practice Nurses in the last two years.

I was one of the lucky ones.....please help me raise money for this worth while charity.

I will take part in my first half marathon event for many years; the Royal London Parks event in October 2009.

Please give generously....I hope to raise £10,000 for The Nightingale Hospice
