In April 2013 I will be joining a group of about 100 people who have signed up to the "Jordan Desert Trek Challenge" with Action for Charity.  The challenge is to walk from the Dead Sea to Petra in Jordan to raise money for various cancer charities.

CLIC Sargent is my chosen charity because through my work producing the Family Grapevine in Shropshire, I have come across so many families who CLIC Sargent has been able to help cope (in a very practical way) with the devastating news that one of their children has cancer. CLIC Sargent works across the country providing much needed care to not just the children who have cancer, but supporting their siblings and parents as well.

The Jordan trek will be far from a "walk in the park".  I'm not sure how far it is but I've been told it will take about 8 hours a day of walking for 5 whole days in hot and sweaty desert conditions and some of us will not be able to complete it.  

We have a strict training regime to fit into our normal lives before we go but not relishing the thought of training for the walk on my own, I've joined "Telford Outdoor" walking group and have started to get my fitness level up gradually in preparation for next year's challenge.
