Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

Note: Phone (text message) donations appear as 'Anonymous' so at the bottom of this text, I've added a log of the kind sponsors behind the donations to give due credit :)

On 18th September 2011 I ran the BUPA Great North Run half marathon (13.1 miles) for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

I ran the race in 1:41.05 - which is faster than I'd ever ran before, faster than training runs. I'd said in an ideal world, had I done more training, I'd love a time of 1:45 ish, give or take 5 mins - thats what I'd aimed for in my doomed Edinburgh Half plans - but I accepted I might struggle to get anything better than 2 hours. So, very pleased!

I don't actually remember much! I kinda seemed in a trance - I remember lots of nipping in and out of little gaps and overtaking people, and being overtaken. I remember cold mist shower type things, absolutely tonnes of people, sun, rain, feeling dizzy at 10 miles, needing the toilet the whole duration but sticking with my determination not to stop! It was one of the best things I've ever done, and I really think everybody should have a go at it.

Thanks to some really brilliant people, I significantly exceeded the £400 minimum target set by the charity, and am really delighted to have the pleasure of being responsible for handing such a chunk of money over to them.

The Anthony Nolan Trust is a charity that finds matches for leukaemia patients in need of an urgent and lifesaving transplant, running a bone marrow register. I'd recommend taking a look at their website: http://www.anthonynolan.org/ where you can learn more about their work, and also look into joining their register (its free!).

So yeah, I'm really grateful for you taking the time to read over this page, and hope that you can help me by making a donation.
Thanks again, Adam. x

Credits due for 'anonymous' text message donations :)

- £2 (6/7/11) + £1 (12/8/11) - Just me testing things out :)

- £10 (12/8/11) - Pippa B - Thank you!!

- £3 (13/8/11) - Ali C - Cheers man!

- £5 (30/8/11) - Katie M - Thanks!

- £2 (18/09/11) - Hayley W - Thankyouu!
