This year I am taking part in two events in quick succession.

On 12th of September is the Great North Swim - 1 mile swim across lake Windimere. http://www.greatswim.org/

8 days later on 20th September is the Great North Run 13 mile half marathon from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields. http://www.greatrun.org/

 

Update: I have done the Great North Swim! A freezing 41 minute torpedo strike across Lake Windermere at a time on a Saturday morning that I really did not appreciate. Well worth it though. Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far, and there is still time to do so - I do the half marathon on Sunday! (had a few issues with the shins lately, so a tad worried now!). However, I have shaved my legs, got the RSPCA vest, instructed the wife/chauffeur/luggage handler and am ready to go! Think of me when I'm sprawled somewhere in South Shields in agony!

 

I am raising funds for the local RSPCA Animal Centre at Gonsal Farm. This is a charity-run Animal Centre  provides a safe haven for animals that have seen cruelty, been given up or abandoned. They look after dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, various small mammals and horses. At any one time they are caring for over 150 animals.

It costs the RSPCA over £2,400 a day to run Gonsal Farm Animal Centre but the RSPCA receives no government funding so they rely entirely on kind donations from people like you.
