My story

I completed the Great Wall Marathon in China on 16 May in a time of 6 hours 48 minutes.  It was hard going, but my time was well withing the permitted 8 hours.  The result can be verified by going to the race website (http://www.great-wall-marathon.com) and clicking on results for the 2009 race.

This time, I was running for the Ataxia-Telangiectasia ("A-T") Society (http://www..atsociety.org.uk/).  A-T is a rare condition that my god-daughter Sophie, the daughter of my closest friends Simon and Pauline, is bravely coping with every day.  The Society funds researchers who are working hard to find a cure.

Donations to the A-T Society can be made through this site.  Or direct by cash or cheque to a special account at the Ulster Bank in Ballycastle: sort code 98-02-70, account number 10156723.  (Sterling) cheques should be made payable to "Great Wall of China Run" and can be posted to Simon Lynn, Ulster Bank, 20 Ann Street, Ballycastle, N. Ireland BT54 6AD.
I am most grateful to those friends who have donated already - your support kept me going when things got really tough around the 35km mark!
