Me, The Man
Half man, half full; 6'5" (imperial measurements, rules is rules); fully-untoned muscles (Chicken-Balti pie fueled); average running distance around a football pitch; likes wearing sky blue of Manchester City colours, Scorpio (does this matter to you? Answers on a postcard); former Mr Unfit 2007; doesn't have breasts but does care for them; hard-working; ready for this challenge; Gladiators ready. Scatter...
The Mission (not a walk in t' park)
The Original Source Urbanathlon Manchester is a high energy, high adventure addition to the World Class events programme in Manchester. All the ingredients are there for this to develop into one of the UK’s great Urban adventure races and to attract large numbers of UK multi sports and adventure race participants into Manchester, home of the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the FINA World Swimming Championships in 2008! I'm going to be knackered after it, and certainly during it.
Ever tried walking up the spiral staircases at the City of Manchester Stadium? They're not easy! This Original Source (yummy minty fresh tingling sensation...) Urbanathlonathingy involves running up them. That sounds plain stupid. The course lasts 10km avoiding the falling spikes of the B of the Bang ( http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/1043297_bang_goes_another_spike ) and badly-positioned dumped cars (you have to jump over them). Have a goosy-gander at www.urbanathlon.co.uk. Even the website will make you break a sweat.
The Cause, A Charity (Because they deserve charity)
The Genesis Appeal is the UK's only breast cancer charity entirely dedicated to the prevention of the disease.
My fundraising target
£500 has been achieved thanks to the generous few who have done so much to support me. Next stop £750... is it realistic? Who knows?! But you don't get anywhere without trying.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep (brush aside those cobwebs) and sponsor me online. If not I will name and shame close friends and family for being tightfisted. You have been warned. Always read the smallprint. Always.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Genesis Appeal Company Ltd will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Thank you kindly for your support!
