Health Partnership Nepal is charity run by St George's medical students. We have an institutional link with Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital and Kanti Children's Hospital. We offer free medical and surgical care to communities in rural Nepal and training to local health care workers.

Story

On 23rd May 2015 I will be running the Gothenburg half marathon to raise money for Health Partnership Nepal, a UK based charity raising funds to send to Nepal.  The recent earthquake in Nepal has devastated the country, and they are in much needed help of urgent funds to care for their injured.  HPN are raising money to send to Nepali doctors working in the worse affected areas, to see the work they are doing see https://twitter.com/hpnepaluk

Health Partnership Nepal (HPN) was established in 2009 as a charitable link between St George’s University of London and Nepal Medical College, where final year medical students and surgeons from St George’s travel to Nepal to work in partnership with Nepali doctors and students to provide free health care to people in rural areas who cannot ordinarily access such health care. We are now raising money through the charity to support emergency medical treatment for those injured in the earthquake.  All money donated through this page will go to HPN, who will distribute it locally to areas of Nepal most in need.

In 2012 for my medical school elective I led a surgical camp and primary care visit to rural Nepal with HPN.  We performed life changing surgery on many people at our surgical camp. In our primary care visits we worked with remote health posts to improve the health care delivery to the local population, distributed hundreds of reading glasses donated from the UK, and gave health promotion talks in local schools.

In 2011 I ran the Windsor Half Marathon to raise money for my visit to Nepal, and in 2014 I ran the full Prague marathon to continue to raise money for HPN – many thanks to everyone who sponsored me then!

Any support you can give to help the people of Nepal now in this disaster would be much appreciated.
