Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I completed the Triathlon in 2:47:47.
I am very happy with the time and I would like to thank you all very much for your kind donations it has gone to a great charity.
On the 2nd August I have entered into the London Triathlon, this is an Olympic distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, 40k bike ride and a 10k run.
For those of you who know me this is not normally the type of activity that I would be involved in given my relaxed (lazy) nature, I was talked into it a long time ago when after several beers I decided that this would be easy and committed to the event. But after my first attempt at road running when I was doubled over after about 1 mile it suddenly hit me, that, as saying goes "my ego was writing cheques my body can't cash" let this be a lesson to all of you.
It has been an experience, I have become a member of a triathlon club, been open water swimming in a lake at 7am on Saturday mornings, ridden a bike for the first time in 15 years and found out that I quite enjoy wearing lycra. It has also not been without it's embarrassing moments. Repeatedly falling off my bike because I cannot get my feet out of the pedals and turning up for triathlon swimming club for the first time wearing my floral swimming shorts with everybody else in lycra a couple of my highlights.
Anyway I have persisted with the training and after 6 months hard work I think I might just be able to drag myself around the course and so I decided this would be a good excuse to raise some money for worthwhile charity.
I have chosen the Little Havens Children's Charity
Little Havens Children's Hospice provides respite breaks, symptom control and end-of-life care for youngsters living with serious conditions and who are not expected to reach adulthood.
It aims to make their journey - and that of the family - as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way.
The love and care provided by the Care Team in the homely surroundings at Little Havens is as special and unique as the child. This could not continue without kind donations as it costs £2.3 million each year to keep the hospice open
