Story

In November 2010 one of our twins boys, George, pulled a cup of tea over himself. Although the burn was not initially thought to be serious he got a horrific infection leading to Toxic Shock.

George was in a critical condition, placed on life support and transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital. He spent 4 long days on life support and Chancy and I obviously did not want to leave his side. Great Ormond Street provided the most wonderful life-saving care and, thanks to The Sick Children's Trust, we were able to stay as close as possible each evening.

The Sick Children's Trust is an amazing organisation who provide bedrooms within a nearby house for parents to stay in completely free of charge. The house is equipped with kitchen, living room, utility area, bathrooms and play room. This meant that we were never more than 100 yards from George's bedside and were able to get some much needed rest and meals to keep our strength up. No parent in those circumstances would ever want to be away from their child so this service is absolutely priceless.

It costs the Sick Children's Trust £25 a night per room and they have houses around the country. By running the 2011 London Marathon I am aiming to raise as much money as possible so they can continue to provide such a meaningful and essential service to parents of poorly children.

George is now safely back at home and causing mischief with his brother Henry as if nothing ever happened.

Although running for The Sick Children’s Trust, Chancy and I are so grateful to all at The Sick Children's  Trust, the CATS team, Great Ormond Street and Broomfield Hospital for their wonderful care, diligence, skill, knowledge and expertise in order to get  Georgie back with his twin brother Henry, right where he should be.

Thank you so much on behalf of George, Henry, Chancy and I.
