Jeevika Trust - Walk for Water 2009 · 13 September 2009 ·

JEEVIKA TRUST tackles the roots of Indian poverty - working in rural areas with low-caste and tribal people, especially women - to help them build their individual and community livelihoods. Our latest partner is AKSHAYA KSHETRAM, a charity which cares for mentally challenged people and orphans.

What its all about?

There is one simple message to give all of our sponsors – that your money really will change lives in India and that the more you can give, the more Jeevika can do.

On Sunday 13th September 2009 Adam Lofthouse, Hannah Grothier and Tom Grothier will be walking 7 miles – a typical walk every day to collect water for many woman in India, some even more - to help raise awareness and to raise money to make a difference. The route is roughly 7 miles long and follows water for much of the way.

Jeevika Trust may only be a small organisation but it has a wide-ranging impact.  The money raised at last year’s Walks for Water in the UK and France meant that 970 families, that’s nearly 6800 people, no longer have to walk for several hours a day to collect water.  They can now collect safe water for their daily needs from a traditional rainwater-harvesting system just outside their villages.

Thank you!! :)
