Wight Challenge · 19 September 2009 ·

Wessex Heartbeat supports the work of the Wessex Cardiac Centre to provide the best care for patients with heart conditions. We provide the latest specialist equipment and major facilities for patients, relatives and staff to ensure the highest quality of care for > 20,000 patients treated annually.

Story

We are Grant Thornton football. We are the Dream Team. We have potentially agreed to do something very stupid......

We are taking part in the Wight Challenge on 19 September 2009, which is (surprisingly) held on the Isle of Wight. The Challenge involves an 18 mile mountain bike ride, followed by an 8 mile run and ending with a 3 mile canoe leg. Easy hey? Well not for us. With no real experience of distance training/running (100m is about the longest distance we have run in a straight line until now!), and a really poor level of general fitness (as confirmed by the picture), it really is going to be a mission.

As part of our efforts, aside from building a good level of fitness ready for the new season, we will be raising money for the events sponsored charity - Wessex Heartbeat. It is great charity which exists to support the hard work of the Wessex Cardiac Centre - a department that may well be helping us out come 2pm on 19 September! The link to their website is here should you like to find out more - http://www.heartbeat.co.uk/

As you've probably already guessed, we are therefore asking you to sponsor us in our endeavours. Please give as much as you can. We have a relatively small target, but every penny helps and it really is going to a good cause.

Many thanks for visiting our page and donating. Rest assured, this will help GT FC to rule the world.

The Dream Team

PS Big up the boys at Grant Thornton FC - those of you that aren't participating must at least donate your left foot - most of you have two of these so it won't be missed!
