Story
** WE MADE IT **
I am pleased to say that despite taking a big fall, enduring blistering cold winds and hours of unpleasant rainfall, I successfully completed the challenge and made it to Paris in one piece (although I don't think I could have done it as easily without Andrew sprinting ahead and calling me a whining little girl from the top of every hill).
We covered at most 90 miles per day bringing the total distance (according to my computer) to about 335 miles.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their donations to the Alzheimer's Society. So far, with your help, we have managed to raise over £124,000 (and counting)!
Thanks again,
Gurdip

The Challenge
2 Riders
London to Paris
315 miles
4 days
September 15th – 19th 2010
The Cause
I will be taking part in this fundraising bike ride in support of Alzheimer’s sufferers.
For those of you reading who don’t know what it is, Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. It is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually even the ability to carry out the simplest tasks.
The disease itself affects around 700,000 people in the UK, but it has an impact on a huge amount of the population as it also affects family and friends of the sufferer. For this reason, the charity we have chosen is the Alzheimer’s Society and all donations received will go directly to funding their work: providing local care and support to sufferers of this disease and to their families. Having personally seen the devastating long term effects this disease has, I urge you to please dig deep and donate now.
You can find out more about the disease and about this charity at www.alzheimers.org.uk
The Goal
I need to raise a minimum of £1300 to be allowed to take part; but with your help, my aim is to raise as much as I can in the time given to me. (If I don't reach the target, don't worry; your money still goes directly to the charity).
Making a donation
It’s really simple and easy to do – just click Donate Now at the top of this page and follow the instructions.
Oh, and if you’re a UK taxpayer remember to Gift Aid your donation!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks again for all your support.
