To all our incredible supporters – Thank You! We did it. On Sunday 17 July at 1228hrs a rather weary Gurkha Bhuros Team crossed the Finish Line of Trailwalker 2011. It had taken us a total of 26 hours and 28 minutes to complete the 100km (62.5 Miles) course. We had planned to do it in less than 24 hours, but the foul weather quickly put paid to that: when the heavy rain stopped we found ourselves ploughing through thick mud churned up by walkers or battling a chilling wind. It was quite tiring. It was an honour to be with at group of incredibly determined and dedicated Gurkha Bhuros, who simply kept going when cold, injured and sore. We were brilliantly supported by a team from the Gurkha Welfare Centres and by the staff of the GWT and we are all most grateful to them. For the record, 521 teams started, but only 57% of them finished – the weather! We came 171th.
Thanks to all our supporters we have raised over £7,000! This includes Gift Aid and off-line donations, and puts us in the top ten. You have donated enough money to build around 70 water tap stands in Gurkhas in remote Hill villages in Nepal
What a feeling of achievement! Thank you so much,
from
The Gurkha Bhuros.
