Story
Dear All,
You'll be pleased to know that your generous donations were not wasted! My bike and I made it to Paris at 3.30 on Saturday afternoon.
It was a gruelling journey in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees and over hills that even cars struggle to get up!
I left Croydon at 7am last Wednesday, cycled for 85 miles to Dover where we caught the ferry to Calais. The following morning we were up at 6am and spent the next 10 hours cycling across stunning French countryside to the beautiful town of Arras. After two tiring days in the saddle, on Friday morning the relentless organisers had our wake up calls set for 6am again and we started on the road to Compiegne which we reached 80 miles later. On Saturday morning spirits were incredibly high and we bound up and down the hills in central France towards Paris. 64 miles later we cycled as a group of 100 around the Arc de Triomph, down the Champs Elysees and into the Champ de Mars where we celebrated under the Eiffel Tower with a much deserved plastic cup of champagne!
I managed to raise:
£1,487,50 for Terrence Higgins Trust
So, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your donations. Also, thank you for all the lovely texts, emails and cards with notes of encouragement you sent - they kept me going!
