Here I am in my natural habitat; easy reading, beer, nice weather and good view. OK so I don't get to do this that often, but hopefully it puts in perspective the challenge I have set for myself for April 2008.
This is the closest I have ever been to Third World conditions (except perhaps when I first moved to London in the early 80's). While there was clearly some poverty down the road from the hotel where I'm sat, everyone had food and water at least.
So now I'm forty something, and trying not to get fat eating good food and drinking fine wine, a thought for those who would love the chance to gain some weight or even have fresh running water, never mind beer.
So here's the deal; I run twenty six and a quarter miles, you help me raise enough money for VSO to bring fresh running water to a thousand people.
Oh, and to make the challenge just a little bit more sporting, I've promised to do it in under four and a half hours.
So, get out your credit card and marvel at how easy it is for you to load heaps of cash on to this site, unless you fancy a 20km run on Monday morning in sleet, rain and wind to keep me company while I train? No? I thought not.
Fancy a little side bet? How about doubling your donation if I make it in under 4 hours?
