Did it!
It was a brilliant day from start to finish (oh yea, apart from mile 18-24 when I hit the wall and stayed hit!) - top atmosphere, friendly fellow runners and a great welcoming reception by SIA afterwards. And then a pub for rather too long...
Well done to Ben R and Stu B as well, fellow
members of 'team Dan', shown on the photo to the left.
My time of 04:12 was slower than I wanted - I fear I'll end up doing another one in order to get sub-four - but don't worry if so I won't ask for sponsorship next time!
So to sign off, thanks so much again from me and the SIA for everyones massive generosity.
***March 2010 update*** Thanks so much everyone for all your kind donations. I'm touched by everyone's generosity - friends, family and friends of family! Not too long until the big day now. Training is pretty much on track, but I'm running slightly less each week than I want to be because of an annoyingly persistent sore right leg. But as I've said to a few people, I know I'll make it round the course one way or the other. Thanks again from me and the SIA!

In April 2010 I'll be running the London Marathon, for the first and almost certainly last time, after accidentally agreeing to do so during a drunken evening earlier this year. A kinder friend would have let me off with a warning, but unfortunately for me I was with the famous Dan Burden at the time and thus my fate was sealed.
