We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Hi, and thanks for taking a moment out of your day to find out more about why I am running the London Marathon in 2010 as part of Team Pingu for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. If after reading this you feel this is a worthy cause, please think about donating something towards JDRF.

My five year old son Luke was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2009. This brought with it changes, a whole lot more injections, but throughout both my wife and I have been continually amazed at the way in which Luke has accepted the changes and simply got on with his life. We've also been overwhelmed by the ongoing support of the NHS and Luke's diabetic nurse - Julie.

I have calculated that between now and when I run the marathon, a period of about six months, Luke will have had roughly 1,300 injections (insulin and blood sugar test). My undertaking to run the marathon and raise £1,500 in doing so is a small contribution towards a future cure for Diabetes. I hope you will share my journey over the coming months. And I will do my best to tweet along the way!

This run is my way of saying: thanks for all your support.
