My story

Gwent Adventures challenge is to keep people windsurfing from 8am to 8pm. I have set myself a personal challenge. I am going to teach a group of non-windsurfers to windsurf. My challenege is to get them on the lake windsurfing in just 2 hours! Therefore making them part of the event. I am doing the challenge in memory of my son Matthew Walklin. Some of the total money raised will go to two of our nominated charities. The first is The Karen Morris Memorial Trust. This charity provided us with accomodation in London while Matt was having high-dose chemo. It was essential that we were close to Matt as he spent a total of 5 weeks in isolation and needed our support throughout this difficult part of his journey. The other charity is Velindre. This is South Wales' leading cancer hospital where Matt received all of his early treatment. Please give as much or as little as you can. Every penny will be put to great use, helping patients and their families. Many thanks.
From the start Matt always refered to his treatment as a journey. He never called it a battle or a fight as this was negative and Matt was never negative.

W4CR aims to promote cancer awareness and raise money for cancer research, education and support. Sunrise Sunset 2013 on June 15th is W4CR's big annual fun and fund raising event. Since 2009 W4CR has been able to distribute more than £150,000, see www.W4CR.org for details.
