Thank you for visiting the H2OPE for Haiti JustGiving page.

The raffle is now closed, but you are still free to make a donation to our chosen charity, Concern Worldwide without buying a raffle ticket.  Please check the BloggerAid - Changing the Face of Famine home page on Wednesday 10 march to see a full list of prize winners.

On 12 January 2010, Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake.  As we watch the horrifying aftermath unfold and reflect on how soon in the new decade thousands of people's lives have been destroyed, it is easy to feel overwhelmed – I’m sure we all do.  But a first-hand account from somebody who had flown a relief flight to Haiti after the quake provided the impetus to push us into action and not stand idly by as others suffered.

BloggerAid Changing the Face of Famine (BA-CFF) is launching H2Ope for Haiti, an online raffle to raise funds for Concern Worldwide's relief effort in Haiti.   We selected Concern Worldwide because of its long track record and quick response after the quake to provide clean drinking water and water purification tablets.  This non-governmental international humanitarian organisation founded in 1968 works around the world to reduce suffering and work towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries.  Concern International has been working in Haiti since 1994 and had over 100 staff members on the ground when the earthquake struck.  Despite losing several team members in the tragedy, they have been quick to act with distribution of supplies.

Concern Worldwide estimates that its initial response to the emergency will last at least six months.  The money raised by this raffle will be paid directly into Concern Worldwide's account by Justgiving and will be used exclusively for the Haiti relief effort.  Nobody at BA-CFF will have any money in our possession.   Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure, and tax relief is claimed on  behalf of the charity on all UK donations. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send you unwanted emails.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DONATING:

Browse the master H2Ope for Haiti prize list of 30 prizes.  Select the prize(s) that you want to buy tickets for and make a note of their unique prize codes.  Each £6.50 (US$10) donation will buy you one virtual raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice.  Payment is accepted via debit card, credit card or PayPal.

When you donate, please remember the following:

1. When you are confirming your donation, AFTER you have made payment, there is a "Personal Message" section to fill in.    You must use this section to tell us which prize(s) you are buying tickets for by mentioning the unique prize code, and how many tickets for each prize you are buying.   For example, a donation of $50 can be used as 2 tickets for the prize HFH01 and 3 for prize HFH17 (write "2 x HFH01 and 3 X HFH17"); or as five tickets for prize HFH23 (write "5 x HFH23").  If you do not supply this information we reserve the right not to enter you into the raffle, although your donation will still go through to the charity.

2. For UK donors, please tick the box to indicate that you are a UK taxpayer as this means that the charity reclaim Gift Aid, a form of tax relief which means that more money will go to the charity and less to the taxman.

3. Please check the box to allow us to see your email address so that we could contact you in case you win - your email address will not be shared with anyone. If you do not allow us to see your e-mail we have no way of contacting you and reserve the right not to enter you into the raffle, although your donation will still go through to the charity.

The results of the raffle will be announced on the BA-CFF homepage on 10 March.

Although each person's donation may be small, even single drops of water will eventually fill a swimming pool.

THANK YOU!
