DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. We fund pioneering research and provide care and support to individuals and families living with EB.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I am doing the annual L2P London to Paris cycle ride that covers over 100 miles a day for three days. It's tough, hilly (although thankfully not mountainous) and not without risks. However, if I do manage to kill myself doing it I'm sure my donations will increase to the point where I posthumously win the fundraisers jersey! this is the only jersey I'm likely to win, unless they start issuing a lantern rouge jersey for the person who finishes last.

Cyclists are used to skin injuries, in fact anyone who goes careering downhill with just a thin layer of lycra for protection is asking for trouble. I have numerous scars all over my body from crashes and falls. In the words of the Bond movie Never Say Never Again "Your body's got enough scar tissue for an entire regiment". However we heal up in time sufferers from EB don't and that is utterly tragic.

Incidentally, David Harman of Eurosport reckons I never do any training. However, he turned up with a fixed wheel bike because he was "too cheap for gears"! (You can hear me say that to him on the official 2009 video)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
