Sebastian’s Action Trust supports children with life-limiting conditions and those who love them. We help families navigate the emotional and practical difficulties that come with caring for a child with complex needs and provide a place where families can connect, relax and make precious memories.

Story

4 intrepid Langlanders are soon to embark on a series of 'long runs' throughout 2010 -  two 1/2 marathons with a 10 k thrown in for good measure. That works out as a rough combined total of 32.4 miles.

We will be running/jogging/taking part in the following:

Reading 1/2, 21st March

London 10K, 21st May

Windsor 1/2, 26th Sept

We are again running in aid of a truly worthwhile cause: Sebastians Action Trust, for which we managed to raise over £1,000 in our inaugural 1/2 marathon back in Sept 2009. Karen's non participating role this year is testament to the difficulty of the Windsor 1/2, i.e. no mean feat, however we remain quietly confident in our abilities over the coming months.

As each of us now has a 1/2 marathon under our respective belts, this year I have selected 4 quotes which reflect both our previous performances and our attitudes going forward. With all to play for however, these may be subject to change throughout the campaign.

1. Whitney Andrews:

"Our sport is your sport’s punishment."

Whitney casting her insult-net quite broadly there.

2. Rae Brodie.

"Running won't kill you... you'll pass out first!"

Rae aka GI Jane with a statment of intent if ever there was one.

3. Charlie Hunt

"Runners have balls, all others just play with them.."

This coming from a former footballer speaks volumes. Oh and by the way Charlie has been unsuccessful in his attempts to shake of his pseudonym Betty Swallocks (not from lack of trying - allegedly)

4. Gareth Coady

"Some people don't have the guts for distance racing. The polite term for them is sprinters."

Can't sprint/won't sprint. Answers on a postcard please.
