Brain Tumour UK has merged with The Brain Tumour Charity to become the UK's largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund research and offer support and information to those affected whilst raising awareness and influencing policy.

Story

A massive thankyou to everyone that has donated money to us in aid of brain tumour UK and our Aunt Christine who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and sadly passed away on January 30th 2008 after a brave battle.

The goal was to complete the Norwich Half Marathon that took place at the Norfolk showground on the 30th of November 2008.

Jon and Tim successfully completed the gruelling 13.1 miles on a rather cold but fortunately dry day.  Joe had to pull out at the last minute due to a Achilles tendon injury! Nasty! but succesfully completed the Broadland Half Marathon on 15th March 2009.

Jon completed in 1:56:54, Tim completed in 2:14:56, Joe completed in 2:12:57.

Jon and Tim stuck together for about 3 miles, then Jon got the urge to press on, Tim had his knee strapped up and decided to pace himself at a steady 10 minute mile, Tim's knee had buckled on the Wednesday before after only 4 miles, so was very nervous it would go again and would have to limp 9 miles.  It held steady much to his delight!!  Both of us felt on good form until faced with a rather large hill at the 12 mile point.  This took it out of us but we hung in there for the last mile to complete the course.  Jon howvever did look a little white when crossing the line.

Attached photograph is of us all after the finish, note Tim had literally just crossed the line, whilst Jon had 20 minutes to recover, hence why Tim looks like a beetroot!  Oh and note Jon's red patch on his chest.....  joggers nipple......   ouch!!!!

We are all proud of our achievement to complete the race in the times we did but also of the kind donations that everyone has given.  We are still happy to accept donations even though the event has been completed.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Brain Tumour UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
