Story
We are very grateful to all those of you who have donated to Alex's fundraising page, with the donations going direct to SSAFA.
On Saturday October 13th, Alex suffered a minor heart attack and has been advised not to continue with his plans to run this particular half-marathon. He is doing very well and will, hopefully, be able to run in the future. Unfortunately, this event is just a bit too soon after the heart attack for him to consider running it.
Having spoken to Justgiving, they have agreed to 'end' this page to prevent any further people donating.
We will be contacting everyone who has already donated in order that they can decide what they wish to do. If people have already donated and they wish for a refund, we will be happy to accommodate that.
It does not seem fair that SSAFA should suffer as a result of Alex's misfortune and so Alex has said that he is happy to personally recompense anyone who has already donated.
Most of the donors come from the ARRSE website. I will be posting a message there as soon as possible in order that people who wish for a refund can contact him directly to arrange this.
Alex will still be donating the £4,000 back payment he received from his military pension to SSAFA.
All offline sponsors will also be offered the opportunity to withdraw from donating any money.
On behalf of Alex, I apologise for any inconvenience that this causes to anyone.
Thank you.
