THE TEAM: CHRIS AYRES, KATIE DIXON, ROB AYRES, LAURA DIXON, ANDREW SMYTH, TAMSIN FORD, CHRIS PAINTER, RACHEL BROADHEAD & RACHAEL MERRY.

As a lot of you will already know we are attempting to run our first half marathon!

In August 2007 Chris Ayres was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer at the age of 25.  He had an operation, followed by an intense course of chemotherapy which lasted for 5 months and was closely monitored by Dr Rogers (Clinical Oncologist).  Chris then had another major operation in February 08 which was carried out by Dr Cranston (Urological Surgeon), a trustee of the charity UCARE.  We have all signed up for the Reading Half Marathon as a way of supporting the incredible work and research that is being done by UCARE.  A charity that is extremely important to us all.

So now there is no way out of it, and in the next couple of months we will all be training hard so that we can run 13 miles on the 29th March 2009!

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for UCARE.  UCARE (Urology Cancer Research and Education) supports cancer research projects in Oxford and are taking a leading role in the global fight against cancer.  Urological cancers represent nearly 20% of all cancers diagnosed in the each year.

Your support will make a difference.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: UCARE (OXFORD) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

Thank you for every penny!
