Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. A group from Crieff are heading out to Northern Kenya in February 2008 to spend some time in Meru District General Hospital. The hospital is currently extremely poorly equipped and staffed to deal with the major challenges of malaria, HIV/AIDS, trauma etc. I will be part of a multidisciplinary team of health colleagues from Perth and Kinross. Each team member will spend time sharing knowledge and skills in each area of the Hospital and more importantly looking at ways that we might be able to support the work in the longer term. The doctors on the team will be sharing knowledge and skills of current medical practices within their general medical wards The project aims are to: · Form lasting links that will mutually benefit global health and housing issues in Perth and Kinross and Northern Kenya · Fundraise for the building of an A&E department and support the development of primary/secondary care healthcare systems to improve patient flow. · Fundraise for essential hospital equipment – (scanners, patient monitors, IT equipment) · Share knowledge and skills of best practise in health and housing. Whatever is donated via this website will be given directly to the Hospital without any intermediate agencies. The money raised here is NOT to pay for our flights, accomodation or any such thing. This will be paid for by ourselves. Any money given will go, without any adminstrative costs, to purchase much needed equipment in the hospital. The team is being co-ordinated by Kings Church in Perth, although most of the team have no direct connection with this, or in some cases any, church! The project is about trying to help support provision of the basic essential health care that we all take for granted in the UK. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The project will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Donations can be made anonymously if preferred Many thanks for your support, Hamish Dougall
